Holy See indicts NATO for Ukraine crisis

Pope Francis slanders NATO

"NATO's barking at Russia’s door might have resulted in President Vladimir Putin launching a military offensive in Ukraine."

[In an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera] 

Pope Francis said that NATO's intentions to extend its military footprint on Russian borders, by making Ukraine an official member of the alliance might have provoked Russia. Russia also justified the attack by saying that, "It has launched a military operation on Ukraine to ensure that Russia's security interests are not hampered." 

Actually NATO did give some vocal assurances to Russia of not including any former Soviet countries in the alliance. But NATO included 3 Baltic nations in the alliance that directly shares borders with Russia. So, to prevent NATO's any further reach to its borders Russia retaliated in advance by declaring war on Ukraine.

Pope has also offered to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss the possible solutions and end this crisis as soon as possible.
